WEBSTER – Edward J. Malley, 81, of Webster died Thursday, September 20, 2012 in UMass/Memorial Healthcare, Worcester with his family at his side.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Claire M. (Isabelle) Malley; 2 sons, John E. “Jack” Malley and his wife Deborah of Walpole and Steven M. Malley of Warwick, RI; 2 grandchildren, Kenneth and Elizabeth Malley; a brother, Raymond F. Malley, Jr. and his wife Mary of Whitinsville; 2 godchildren, Ellen Hatfield and Debra Montague; nephews and nieces; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Doris Demarest in 1999.
He was born in Grafton and raised in Uxbridge, the youngest child of Raymond F. Malley, Sr. and Ellen (Creighton) Malley. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Milford in 1949 and did further studies at Worcester Junior College. He moved to Webster in 1960.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army Security Agency in Austria and Germany.
Mr. Malley worked for New England Telephone, now Verizon, for 32 years, retiring as a first level supervisor in special services in the Worcester office in 1990.
He was a cofounder of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, which opened in 1996, and was involved with its daily operation until last year. A member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a life member of its League of the Sacred Heart, he served as a Eucharistic minister and as the chairman of the Bishop’s Fund, now Partners in Charity, for 10 years. He was the first president of Saint Anne’s School Association, a past president of the Marianhill Central Catholic High School PTA in Southbridge, a member of the Sacred Heart Pitch League and also of the Webster-Dudley Knights of Columbus Council 228. He initiated a successful campaign that provided free busing for students at Catholic schools in the tri-town area in the early 1970’s.
The funeral will be held Monday, September 24, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, September 23, in the funeral home. Donations in his name may be made to either the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 17 East Main Street, or to St. Anne’s Elementary School, 12 Day St., PO Box 818, both in Webster, MA 01570.

WEBSTER – Marlene (Pelletier) Cote, 54, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 in UMass/Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after complications following surgery.
She leaves a daughter, Andrea E. Valcourt of Webster; a son Joshua R.. “Josh” LeBlanc of Ellsworth, ME; a grandson, Christian M. Dupre of Webster; a brother, Randy Pelletier of Leominster; a good friend, Arthur F. LeBlanc III of Ellsworth, ME; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was born in Daytona Beach, FL, the daughter of Robert and Eleanor (DeCarolis) Pelletier. She lived in Westminster, Leominster and Fitchburgh before moving to Webster in 2008. She graduated from Leominster High School in 1977.
Marlene was a direct care worker at North Central Human Services for 11 years. She also was a cashier at Price Chopper in Spencer. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and enjoyed church activities. She loved riding motorcycles, wolves and fishing.
Marlene chose to donate several organs through the New England Organ Bank: her heart to a 40 year old man, her lungs to a 50 year old woman, her liver to a 40 year old woman, and her kidneys to 2 men aged 60 and 70. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 8, at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street, Webster. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.

WEBSTER – Edward J. “Champ” Ciesluk, Sr., 85, of Webster, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence, Worcester, after a period of declining health.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Arlene J. (Quigley) Ciesluk; 2 sons, Edward Ciesluk, Jr. and his wife Debra of Charlton and David Ciesluk and his companion Maureen Horan of Dudley; 3 stepchildren, Keith D. Bellerose and his wife Dawn of Anchorage, Alaska, Michelle M. Bellerose and her companion Ron Donais, and Brian T. Bellerose and his wife Donna, all of Webster; 8 grandchildren, Thomas and Megan Ciesluk, Destinee and Derik Bellerose, David and Joshua Paradis, and Nicholas and Jennifer Bellerose; 3 great grandchildren, Mariah, Joshua Jr. and Madilynn; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Phyllis Czernicki, Jenny Johnson and Hattie Wojciechowski and by 3 brothers, Walter “Patsy” Ciesluk, Isadore Ciesluk and Anthony Ciesluk.
He was born and raised in Dudley, the youngest of the 7 children of Vincent N. and Mary T. (Makulska) Ciesluk and lived in Webster and Dudley all his life.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Ciesluk was a finish inspector at Wyman Gordon Company in Worcester for over 30 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of Saint Louis Church and the Dudley PNA. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting the casinos and family gatherings. He attended most of his grandchildren’s functions and was their strongest fan.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, September 4, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will perform the military honors at the cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, September 3, in the funeral home. Donations in his name may be made to Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570.

WEBSTER – Nellie D. (Bartkiewicz) Kondek, 101, of Webster, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in Webster Manor after an illness. Her husband of 58 years, Louis C. Kondek, died in 1998.
She leaves 2 sons, Bernard A. Kondek, Sr. and his wife Regina J. Kondek, and Louis J. Kondek, all of Webster; 2 grandsons, Bernard A. Kondek, Jr. and Brian W. Kondek; 3 great granddaughters,
Amanda, Jillian and Deanna; a sister, Rose Manyak of Douglas; and nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Webster, a daughter of Martin and Caroline (Grych) Bartkiewicz and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica and its Sacred Heart Society and Saint Anne Society.
The family would like to thank the staff on the third floor of Webster Manor for their excellent care for Nellie for the last 7 months.

Tefta ‘Tess’ (Kontaxi) Pappas, 91, of Lake Parkway passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Her husband of 68 years; Arthur J. ‘Chick’ Pappas died in 2009.
She leaves 2 daughters; Ann L. wife of Al Axtman of Dudley and Lisbeth E. wife of Theodore ‘Ted’ Tonna, Jr. of Webster, 5 grandchildren; Christopher Axtman, Sarah Tonna, Lesley Tonna, Charles Axtman and his wife Kim, and Christa Benoit and her husband Matt, 5 great grandchildren; Elliot, Teddy and Tessa Benoit, Amber and Nathan Axtman.
Tess was born in Southbridge, September 25, 1920, a daughter of Theodore and Jenna (Alabaku) Kontaxi.
She was predeceased by a son John A. Pappas who died in 2002, a brother; Henry Knox and a sister; Mary Woodall.
Tess and her husband Chick co-owned the former Stadium and the former Big Apple in Webster for many years. She was a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, the Daughters of Penelope, the Philoptochos Society, and Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to cook and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren at the family home on Marco Island , she loved riding bike, collecting shells and walking on the beach, where she and her husband resided in the winter and were active for more than 30 years.
The family would like say to express their gratitude to Tri-Valley Elder Services, VNA Care Network and Hospice, and to her caring friend Monica.
The Funeral will be Tuesday, September 11, 2012 with a Service at 11 AM in Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 35 Lake Parkway, burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be Monday, September 10, 2012 from 5 to 8 PM (At the Church)
A Trisagion service will be at 7PM,Monday.

Nancy J. (Stanley) DiDonato, 73, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 in Radius Healthcare of Southbridge.
She leaves 3 sisters; Gayle Hohler of Southbridge, Dawn Lazaroff of Hampton, CT., and Cathy Helgerson of Dudley, 1 brother; Robert F. Stanley of Pomfret Center, CT., a son; Scott M. Stevenson of Bethlehem, N.H., 2 grandsons, and several nieces & nephews.
She was born in Webster, a daughter of L. Edward and Eileen G. (Toutant) Stanley.
Nancy worked as an administrative assistant in healthcare and was also a seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, cake decorating, sewing, crafts and cooking.
There are no calling hours.
A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be private and at the convenience of the family.

WEBSTER – Dr. Sean M. Norton, Pharm.D., 30, of Webster, died Saturday, September 8, 2012 at home after an illness.
He leaves his mother, Isabella Kathleen Oteri; his father, Laurence E. “Larry” Norton and step-mother, Myrna I. Colón, all of Webster; his sister, Dr. Jennifer L. Norton, Pharm. D. and her husband Adam L. Isard of Lafayette Hill, PA; his maternal grandmother, Joyce Katherine (Gilbert) Oteri of Jensen Beach, Florida; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was born in Worcester and lived in Webster most of his life. He was a graduate of Saint Louis School and graduated from Bartlett High School, Class of 2000, where he was a member of the BHS National Honor Society. He was captain of the varsity track & field team and played varsity football. He received his Bachelor of Science in 2004 and his Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2006 from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. He also played intramural softball in college.
Dr. Norton was employed as a registered pharmacist at Shaw’s Supermarket in Windsor, CT, retiring due to illness in 2009.
He was a member of Saint Louis Church and a member of the American Pharmacist Association. He was a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan. He loved rock and roll, especially the Beatles. He was deeply connected to nature and enjoyed the time spent fishing on Webster Lake with his Uncle Jimmy. An amateur herpetologist, he loved snakes and reptiles catching various species, including rattlesnakes, turtles and alligators. He enjoyed traveling to Key West and the Everglades, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Quebec, Canada.
The funeral will be held Thursday, September 13, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 12:00 PM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 12, in the funeral home. She leaves a daughter, Patricia H. Allison and her husband Chet of Webster; 2 granddaughters, Jacqueline St.Cyr and Erin Allison; a sister, Anne Ankiewicz of Dudley; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, John M. Krok in 1988 and by her 4 brothers, Stanley, Benjamin, Chester and John Laskowski.
She was born in Dudley, a daughter of Adam and Aniela (Stawicki) Laskowski and lived in Webster for most of her life. She worked as a cementer at Sandlerette Shoe for many years before retiring in 1975. She was a member of Saint Louis Church.
The funeral will be held Saturday, September 15, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at noon in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling period will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 in the funeral home. He leaves his wife of 46 years, Barbara A. (Placzek) Bembenek; a daughter, Debra Ann Thomas of Webster; twin grandchildren, Anthony Scott Thomas and Sophie Ann Thomas; a brother, Robert Bembenek of Webster; 3 sisters, Joanne Brezniak of Blackstone Valley, Linda Klys of Webster and Jeanne Loos of Columbus, OH; his special cousins, Ronald, Agnes and Chad Coporale; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Thomas Bembenek of Florida and John Bembenek of Webster.
He was born and raised in St. Albans, West Virginia, the oldest of the 7 children of Edward J. Bembenek, Sr. and Eileen (DeVore) Bembenek.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Bembenek was a supervisor at Sanitary Dash Company in Putnam, CT for 35 years. He then worked at Central Supply in Worcester for 5 years, retiring in 2007. He loved fishing and hunting.

Mary was born in Fitchburg, and lived in Webster for many years. She owned and operated her own beauty salon for over 30 years. She was a member and very active at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church and was a member and past secretary of the Philoptochos Society. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary’s Funeral will be Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from the Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St. followed by a Service at 10 AM in Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 35 Lake Parkway. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be Monday, October 1, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM in the Funeral Home. There will be a Trisagion Service at 7 PM on Monday.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He served as a sergeant and was discharged in 1958. He was a reserve deputy sheriff in Worcester County for many years and was a member of its search and rescue teams. He volunteered for the American Red Cross. He enjoyed being a handyman. He loved taking long rides and eating at various restaurants. WEBSTER – David F. Beland, 72, of School Street, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Parsons Hill Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, Worcester, after a long illness. He leaves 2 brothers, Norman L. Beland and his wife Mary of Westborough and Richard P. “Chick” Beland of Worcester; his longtime friends, Kevin and Becky Walsh and family of Dudley; nephews, nieces and many friends. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Peter, Robert and Donald Beland. He was born and raised in Worcester, a son of Henry and Eva (Lanieur) Beland. He lived in Boston for over 25 years. He then moved back to Worcester for 10 years before taking up residence in Webster in 1994. He earned his high school diploma from Bartlett High School’s GED program in 2002; he was awarded top honors in his class and inducted into the National Honor Society. Mr. Beland was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was a chef at various Boston restaurants for 25 years. He then volunteered at a Worcester furniture clearing house for 5 years. After he retired he was a volunteer for the Senior Corps’ Senior Companion Program, which is a service provided by Tri-Valley, Inc. In 1990, Mr. Beland received the National Volunteer Award presented by Chock Full O’ Nuts Coffee for his dedication to the Worcester Committee of Homelessness and Housing. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. and helped many people over the years. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 3, in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road, Dudley. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
